HUMAN WELL-BEING THROUGH THE PRISM OF BIG DATA: ETHICAL RISKS AND CHALLENGES

The article is devoted to the philosophical analysis of the term «well-being» and its interpretation at the present time. In the world of Big Data and digital technologies new criteria for human well-being are emerging. The concept of «digital well-being» is analyzed from the point of view of what it means to live a good life for us in a digital society through the parameters of measuring digital well-being proposed by L. Floridi: digital gratitude, automated interventions and sustainable co-well-being. Digital technologies based on Big Data have not just an instrumental function, they have become active participants in the formation of personal well-being sense through the selection of reactions, solutions, recommendations based on data analysis in various fields of human activity. Manipulations, discrediting, violation of rights, and the risk of serious damage are behind the improvement of the quality of life, the effectiveness of work and social processes. A person in his desire to increase well-being – material and moral – found himself in a situation of the need for a more careful choice of his actions. The automatism of actions inherent in humans increases the risks of causing harm to both the individual and the people around them.
