THE PROBLEM OF RECOGNIZING CULTURAL GENOCIDE AS A CRIME AGAINST THE PEACE AND SECURITY OF HUMANITY AS A MEASURE TO PROTECT HISTORICAL TRUTH

This article examines the issue of recognizing cultural genocide as a crime against the peace and security of humanity from the perspective of protecting historical memory and truth. It outlines the main approaches to defining the concept of cultural genocide and discusses its forms, including linguocide and information genocide.

Particular emphasis is placed on the destruction and suppression of historical and cultural heritage as aspects of cultural genocide. It is noted that the policy of restrictions and attacks on the culture of the Russian-speaking population in the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR is an integral part of a comprehensive program to neutralize ethnic Russians. One significant way to counter the implementation of this program is to recognize cultural genocide as a crime against the peace and security of humanity.

Keywords: cultural genocide, international law, state, monument, linguocide.
