In compiling his treatise, Gratian, whose goal is to\neliminate contradictions in the canonical law of the Roman Catholic Church,\nbuilds the material using the \u00abmethod of eliminating contradictions\u00bb, which\nturned out to be very promising and found supporters among the representatives\nof the Byzantine Church. Scholia (or Theodore Balsamon\u2019s commentary on the\nFotius nomocanon) was built on the same principle as Gratian\u2019s. Thus, the\nauthor states that the use of such a \u00abgood\u00bb method allowed the creation of\nunique treatises that became models of canonical jurisprudence for several\ncenturies.
